LOCKDOWN: Onne Truck Drivers Slams Security Agents Over Extortion


Truck drivers in Onne have cried out to the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government over alleged unbearable extortion by security personnel stationed on the Onne Road.

The drivers made the call under the umbrella of the Flat and Cargo Trailer Drivers Association of Nigeria, affiliated to Maritime Onne Branch.

The transport operators slammed the security agents deployed to Onne Road to enforce the lockdown to curb the spread coronavirus, and threatened embark on a strike, if the situation continued.

The Vice Chairman of the Union at Onne Zone, EMMA WORI told our correspondent at the Union Office in Onne, that the lock down had been become multiple doors for security operatives to extort trailer drivers.

WORI also alleged that the security operatives had erected more checkpoints along Onne roads since the lockdown started on Sunday.
